The roots of Rem Offshore ASA date back to 1978, when a young Åge Remøy, together with family, in-laws and friends, decided to purchase an old rebuilt fishing vessel from Canada.
The fishing vessel, named Jan Mayen, laid the foundation for further growth, and during the 1980s new and more modern trawlers were contracted.
After a slow start to the 1990s with all its financial boom and gloom, Åge decided to embark on a new adventure. As a spin-off from Remøy Trading, he established Rem Maritime AS in 1996, the current management company of the Rem fleet.
His first real foray into the offshore industry came in 1997 when Rem Maritime contracted Rem Angler, a seismic vessel which went onto a long-term contract to GECO. This contract provided the necessary financial power for further expansion. Pacific Pride and Hopen were two trawlers contracted in 2000 and 2001 respectively, before the expansion into offshore took off in 2004, with the first order of a PSV, the Rem Fortune.
The company quickly grew in size and Rem Offshore ASA was established in 2006 as a parent company for the various shipowning entities. In 2007, Rem Offshore ASA was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, and soon became attractive to investors due to its large and modern fleet.
The company is located in new and modern offices in Fosnavåg, where we provide ownership and full management of what can only be defined as one of the most modern fleets of offshore vessels in the world.
Rem Offshore's vision to contribute with competence, vessels and qualified employees offshore and onshore. We wish to develop good relations to our customers both nationally and globally.
